Supporting Employers Project

The Direct Payment Support Service and Services for Independent Living is currently running a project to support disabled and older people who are using a Direct Payment to employ Personal Assistants who enable them to live independently.

We are looking for volunteers to help support new and existing service users to gain the skills which they need in order to become an effective employer.

You do not have to be a SIL service user to become a volunteer. We are looking for people from all walks of life who could support in the following areas.

  • Interviewing potential PA's

  • Training in bookkeeping

  • Understanding the management of staff

  • Providing information on what it is like to be an employer using a Direct Payment

In return, you will receive full training and be supervised by our dedicated team at SIL.

If you have any experience in the field of employment or are keen to learn please call Amy Deacon on 01432 353 397 or email amy@s4il.co.uk

Whether you have an hour a month or an hour a day to volunteer, SIL will be able to utilise your skills.

All volunteers will have to undergo a criminal records check.
