Alzheimers Society – Learning Disability & Dementia 12 month innovation funded project

  • The aim is the raise awareness and increase understanding of dementia and people living with learning disability
  • Explore ways to help sustain and maintain chosen lifestyle, wherever home is.
  • Support planning for changes that become necessary while it is easier for the person to manage change.

Alzheimers Society staff and volunteers deliver Dementia Friendly sessions locally to people with learning disabilities, family carers and paid staff.  The Regional Support Officer trains Dementia Friends Champions who can support the on-going awareness raising beyond the life of the project.
