CEO recognised with Fellowship of RSA
Services for Independent Living (SIL) is delighted to announce that its Chief Executive, Euan McPherson, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) in London for his contribution to social advancement through his involvement with health and social care services and work with disabled people.
The Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts is an award granted to individuals whom the RSA judges deem to have made outstanding achievements for social progress and development. Previous Fellows have included Stephen Hawking, Charles Dickens, Karl Marx, Benjamin Franklin and Nelson Mandela.
The Fellowship is a network of people across the globe working together to resolve some of society’s most pressing issues. The RSA’s mission is to enrich society through ideas and action. Being awarded a Fellowship is considered an honour and indicates significant standing in established society in 80 countries. Fellows must have demonstrated a high level of achievement related to the arts, manufacture and commerce.
Upon his appointment, Euan said, “I am delighted to be appointed a fellow of the RSA, joining thousands of inspiring people with strong values to change society. Throughout my time in health and social care working with passionate and dedicated colleagues, I have strived to challenge stigma and discrimination and develop services which meet the needs and aspirations of those effected by disability and long term illness. I look forward to building new networks and relationships focused on creating a cohesive, just and successful society for all.”
