SIL is a ‘not for profit’ organisation providing services that enable older and disabled people to live the life they choose at home and in the community. The Direct Payments Support Service (DPSS) operates a Payroll Service for employers who employ Personal Assistants, and a Bookkeeping Service to help individuals to complete their financial monitoring accounts, which are required by the Local Authority Finance monitoring team.

Due to a period of expansion we are now looking for a bookkeeper to join the team. You will be responsible for a range of bookkeeping services including the completion of monthly accounts; reconciling accounts for payment; processing invoices and making bank payments. The post holder will also be responsible for administrative duties within the team and will occasionally be asked to assist with payroll duties.

Essential Requirements:

  • Good general education including GCSE Mathematics and English grade C or equivalent
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good communication skills both oral and written
  • Good organisational skills
  • Experience of working under pressure and to strict deadlines
  • Experience and knowledge of bookkeeping processes
  • Experience of completing bank reconciliations
  • Experience of implementing and managing administrative functions

 

Desirable:

  • Experience of running payroll
  • Experience of communicating with financial departments, HMRC, etc.
  • Knowledge of personal budgets/direct payments and records required

 

Hours: 22.5 hours per week (days negotiable)

Salary: £8.76- £9.33 per hour (£8.76 per hour during probation period)

Reporting to: Payroll & Financial Administration Team Leader
