What is Mental Health First Aid?

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course which teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis.

Our accreditated MHFA England trainer won’t teach you to be a therapist, but just like physical first aid, it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis.

The Online Mental Health First Aider course is interactive and is delivered through slides, videoclips, activities, discussion and case studies which you will explore as a group to embed learning. It takes about 15 hours for a delegate to complete the course which is delivered over a two week period to allow time for individual learning ahead of the live sessions.

Adult MHFA England courses are for everyone aged 16 upwards. Every course is delivered by a quality assured Instructor Member who has attended the MHFA Instructor Training
programme accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health, and is trained to keep people safe and supported while they learn.

What will I learn?

Learning takes place online through a mix of group activities, presentations, discussions and individual home-learning.  We offer the comprehensive course (previously the 2 day course but now offered online over 4 shorter sessions over a 2 week period): Taking approximately 15 hours ( 8.5 hours online and 6.5 hours individual learning).
