Yeleni Therapy & Support – for those living with or caring for those with Cancer

Each year Services for Independent Living choose a charity to support. SIL events throughout the year provide the opportunity to fundraise and promote their services.  This year we are working with Yeleni Therapy and Support.

Yeleni wants to reach out and support as many cancer patients as possible, as there will be an increasing need for their services in years to come.

As of the end of 2010 around 5,900 people in Herefordshire were living with and beyond cancer up to 20 years after diagnosis.  This could rise to an estimated 11,500 by 2030.  Therefore currently there could be as many as 7,500 people living with cancer in Herefordshire with around 537 new cancer diagnoses per 100,000 people each year.

Current Statistics from Cancer Research show that there are over 200 different types of cancer and that 1 in 2 people born after 1960 will have some type of cancer during their lifetime.

Yeleni also offer therapies to the general public and aim to support anyone with their health and can hopefully help them maintain a sense of well being.
