I hope you won’t mind me taking this opportunity to introduce ourselves as a local Herefordshire charity providing services for disabled and elderly people. I am writing especially to ask if you, or anyone you know with relevant skills, might consider becoming a trustee of our charity, to help support our work. It’s a voluntary role and not a big time commitment but can make a big difference to our work for our clients.
Services for Independent Living (SIL) is a multi-award winning Herefordshire based charity which supports disabled and elderly people to gain and maintain independence, and engage in their local communities. SIL works across Herefordshire supporting approximately 300 people and employing around 130 staff.
We are currently looking for people with management experience to join our Board as trustees to help guide and oversee our work. We would love to hear from you or if you know of anyone in the finance sector who you think might have relevant experience and be interested; financial management in all its elements is a key area impacting our current and future plans.
The organisation is also currently looking for trustees with other types of management experience including HR, Company and general law, PR and Communications and Technology. If you know others with that background who may be interested, we would really appreciate it if you would pass our message on to them.
SIL is a welcoming and accessible organisation that encourages applications from all sectors of the Community. At least half of our Board of trustees is made up of people with experience of disability and we are very keen to welcome those with lived experience as either a family carer or as a disabled person to join us. Whilst we would benefit from people with previous Trustee experience we are keen also to invite those who may wish to step into the role of Trustee for the first time as we can guarantee you a wide ranging and interesting experience in return for your professional input., and can support you as you learn about the organisation and the role.
If you are interested in giving some of your time please take a look at the Trustee part of our website where you can meet our current Trustees. https://www.s4il.co.uk/about-us/our-trustees/ or go to our vacancies section where you’ll find more about the role and how to apply
If you are interested in joining SIL as a trustee, contact Euan McPherson, Chief Executive on email@example.com or 01568 616653 for an application pack.
Thank you for your time in reading this letter, and we look forward to hearing from you.
P.P. Angie Higham
