Services for Independent Living (SIL) is used to winning awards, but generally for the outstanding care and support it gives to its service users.
However, Head of Finance Peter Skelton, has just learned he has been shortlisted in the prestigious Midlands Finance Awards 2024 for his delivery in financial performance, leadership, management and development.
He was chosen from hundreds of nominations for strengthening financial control and processes across SIL, driving continuous improvement and developing a team.
SIL’s Chief Executive Euan McPherson said: “Peter came to SIL three years’ ago with a proven track record in financial management, and his input into the organisation has given SIL financial security for the future.
“Thanks to his forward planning and prudence we have been able to open up a charity fund to help our service users and voluntary organisations across the county that need a little financial support.
“We are cheering him on and hoping he scoops the award. We know he is against some tough opposition, but he would be a truly deserving winner.”
The awards ceremony takes place on Thursday 24th October at the ICC in Birmingham City Centre.
