Job description

Fun and active personal assistant needed in Hereford to support a teenage girl with autism, visual impairment, and other additional needs. Support needed with arts and crafts, drawing, swimming, and going out and about.

I am quite quiet until I get to know you so you will need to be patient and cheerful as we build a rapport. As well as the fun things, you will be supporting me and ensuring my personal safety both when we are inside and outside the home and setting boundaries plus encouraging my development and improving my life skills.

Minimum of 6 hours per week during term time and some flexibility in school holidays paid at £9 per hour.

About Me

I am 14 years old and live with my family just outside on Hereford. I have multiple support needs for my Autism, ADHD, VI, sensory processing delay, Pathological Demand Avoidance, insomnia, and Learning Disability. I am able to communicate verbally and can be anxious at times.

Despite my additional needs I like arts and craft, drawing, horse riding, playing online games, bike riding in Queens wood and swimming.

I am equally happy being home or out and about.

  • You would be helping me with some aspects of personal care and hygiene .

  • You will be supporting me with the activities listed above
  • In addition, you will be helping promote my independence and teaching me some life skills like the value of money
  • I have no danger awareness so you will need to make sure I am safe at all times

About You

Previous experience of similar work is essential.

You must be able to understand the importance of confidentiality, be patient, calm, be a good communicator with someone who has complex needs and have a good sense of humour.

Be able to set boundaries and encourage my development.

You will need to be a car driver/owner.

About Direct Payments

Direct payments are available from Local Authorities for people who have a care and support plan in place following a social care assessment. An amount of money is allocated to purchase the assistance and care needed to live independently.

I should stress that my Mum will be your employer and have full responsibility for recruitment, contracts, supervision, pay, training etc. A support service assists her in meeting her responsibilities as an employer.

Salary: This is a flat rate of pay that takes account of unsociable hours and weekend working.

Hours: These are the minimally contracted hours. If I require additional support at other times I will try to give as much notice as possible, an ability to be flexible would be an advantage.
