It was smiles all round as Rae Chambers, Manager of Marches Family Network, called in at the offices of Services for Independent Living (SIL) to collect a rather large cheque.
Each year staff from SIL nominate a charity they would like to support with fundraising events throughout the following year.
Last year staff chose the Marches Family Network and the fundraising bonanza included SILโs annual Easter Eggstravaganza, a Paralympic themed afternoon tea, a Christmas Jumper Party and several raffles.
Lisa Bradley, SILโs Deputy CEO, said: โAlthough we are a charity ourselves, we believe that we should also do what we can to support other charities that share SILโs vision of supporting people to live independent lives and be as active as they can and want to be in their local communities.
โMFN provides activities, services and short breaks for children and young people, aged 0-25 years, with a wide range of disabilities. All of the sessions are group sessions so the young people are able to socialise with their peers and develop friendships. We think this fits brilliantly with our ethos.โ
Thanks to the generosity of SILโs staff and service users the sum of ยฃ512.13 was raised.
This year SILโs charity of the year is Accessible Herefordshire, and SIL is already on a roll, having raised over ยฃ70 at its recent Easter Egg-stravaganza..
