Orange buttons save lives

In February the first Orange Button Community event welcomed 30 Orange Button wearers from across Herefordshire. Since then, Orange Buttons are popping up everywhere and there are now 650 people across Herefordshire and Worcestershire trained to support people with suicidal thoughts.

The Suicide Prevention Programme has now launched two videos. One of these features Euan McPherson, Chief Executive of local charity Services for Independent Living (SIL), who talks openly about his own experiences coping with mental illness and thoughts of suicide.

The Orange Button is worn by people who have relevant training in suicide prevention. They are there to listen, signpost to local support, and help reduce stigma by talking openly about suicide.

The videos show how our Orange Button wearers are creating opportunities to help more people get the support they need. By joining the Orange Button community, individuals can play a crucial role in providing vital support and assistance to those in need.
