We are delighted to announce that SIL has been certified as a Disability Confident Leader for another three years. This recognition highlights our ongoing commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and creating opportunities for disabled people across our organisation.
What is the Disability Confident Scheme?
The Disability Confident scheme is a UK government initiative that encourages employers to think differently about disability and take meaningful action to improve how they recruit, retain, and develop disabled people.
By joining the scheme, employers demonstrate leadership in disability inclusion and show that they are serious about building workplaces where everyone can thrive.
A Continuous Journey of Inclusion
The Disability Confident scheme is designed as a continuous learning journey. Each stage encourages organisations to evolve and improve, equipping them with resources to nurture a workforce where every member feels valued and empowered to harness their unique talents.
The Three Levels of the Disability Confident Scheme
Employers progress through three levels on their Disability Confident journey:
- Disability Confident Committed (Level 1)
- Disability Confident Employer (Level 2)
- Disability Confident Leader (Level 3)
SIL is proud to have achieved and maintained the top tier โ Disability Confident Leader โ for several years.
What It Means to Be a Disability Confident Leader
Being a Disability Confident Leader demonstrates that SIL:
- Leads by example โ Acting as a Disability Champion for inclusion in our community and business networks.
- Attracts and retains talent โ Creating better opportunities to recruit and retain disabled staff.
- Shows commitment โ Making a public pledge to be a disability-inclusive employer.
A Distinctive Achievement
SIL is one of only 670 businesses in the UK to hold the status of Disability Confident Leader. This is a significant achievement and one we continually strive to maintain.
Our certification reflects our dedication to building a workplace where disability inclusion is not just a policy, but a culture.
Looking Ahead
As a Disability Champion, SIL will continue to lead by example, share best practices, and encourage other organisations to join the Disability Confident scheme. Together, we can create a society where disabled people have the opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their ambitions.
