SIL achieves Coveted Disability Confident Leader status

Services for Independent Living (SIL) is pleased to announce that the organisation has been recognised as a ‘Disability Confident Leader’ in the UK and is one of only 25 organisations in the country to have achieved this accolade.

SIL, which ensures that disabled people and those with long term health conditions have the opportunities to realise their aspirations, first had to meet the requirements of a Disability Confident employer and then submit a portfolio evidencing the organisation’s equal opportunity practices.

SIL regularly provides work experience for individuals with disabilities; works collaboratively with organisations such as Job Centre Plus; and provides an inclusive and accessible environment for staff and Service Users.

This means that SIL, which was previously a Disability Confident Employer, will now act as a champion, taking an active leadership role in encouraging and helping other employers on their journey to becoming Disability Confident.
