Services for Independent Living (SIL) are delighted to announce that they have become the 47th organisation in Herefordshire to pledge its support and sign up to the Armed Forces Covenant.

To become part of the Covenant SIL has pledged to uphold the key principles, which include holding fast to the principle that no member of the Armed Forces Community should face disadvantage in the provision of public and commercial services compared to any other citizen.

SIL has pledged to support the employment of Service spouses and partners; to support the employment of veterans young and old; to offer a degree of flexibility in granting leave for Service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment; and supporting employees who choose to be members of the Reserve forces.

SIL is proud to make this commitment to be a part of the Armed Forces Covenant, and we welcome enquiries about any of our services or our jobs from veterans or Service families.

Chair of SIL’s Board of Trustees, Mrs Angela Pendleton, said: “I am proud to be signing the Armed Forces Covenant on behalf of Service for Independent Living and to pledge our on-going support to our Armed Forces.

“SIL’s trustees recognise the commitment and professionalism of our armed forces and  all very much appreciate the work they do through times of conflict and peace and our signing of The Covenant helps us to recognise that.”
