Despite being a charity ourselves each year we choose a local charity to support through our events and awareness building. This year we chose the Marches Family Network (MFN) as our charity of the Year.
MFN is an independent, Herefordshire-based charity that provides activities, services and short breaks for children and young people, aged 0-25 years, with a wide range of disabilities. All of the sessions they run are group sessions so the young people are able to socialise with their peers and develop friendships. They also welcome siblings, where places are available, and their youth team is trained to meet the varied and complex needs of the children and young people who attend the sessions.
Many of SIL’s service users within our Direct Payment Support Service are parents of children who benefit from MFN’s services and it is their commitment to supporting disabled children and their families that made it the perfect choice for this year’s Charity of the Year.
