SIL’s Award Hat Trick

Services for Independent Living (SIL), one of the county’s longest running care agencies, showed yet again at the annual Hereford Times Health & Social Care awards ceremony how highly it is regarded within Herefordshire.

The company has supported disabled people and older, vulnerable individuals for almost 30 years and its success is down to the compassion and commitment of the staff it employs and its ethos of ensuring its employees are rewarded and valued for the vital work they do.

This year SIL scooped three awards, including the prestigious “Care Employer of the Year”. As well as being recognised again as the outstanding employer in the county, it also won the “Mental Health Award” and “The Outstanding Contribution to Health & Social Care in Herefordshire Award”, through its delivery of the Men’s Mental Health Group, (HMMH), set up and facilitated by SIL’s CEO, Euan McPherson.

Euan said: “Each year the standard of the nominations has got higher and higher, and this year was no exception. Everyone who was shortlisted should be immensely proud of their achievement.

“I was personally over the moon that Services for Independent Living won the Care Employer of the year award for the second consecutive year, and that Hereford Men’s Mental Health group won the Mental Health award and the Outstanding Contribution to Health and Social Care.”

SIL has worked tirelessly to ensure that its staff benefit, not only from higher than average pay, but also from a range of benefits, including enhanced sick pay. Recognising the contribution employees make to the success of the organisation is a fundamental part of its business planning and SIL’s management know that rewarded, successful staff make for happy and well-cared for service users.
